To me this assignment was really hard. I could not think of anything to do for it and I wanted to use my own picture. I am not very good at photoshop so it took me very long to cut out and paste the fairies in to this picture. I came up with this because I saw an add in a magazine for perfume and it looked fairy tale like. And when I looked at my picture of the waterfall I saw that the fairies would kind of fit in there. So I got the fairies off the internet and pasted them into my own picture, trying to blend them in and make them one with the nature. It was fun to learn to do layers but I need a lot more practice with it. It was rreally time consuming and it didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it too but for the first time layering in photoshop, I think I passed. It was a fun experience and I will probably try to play around more with it now.

Socail Issues: Smoking

I took this picture because I am very concerned about young people, and people in general smoking and using other drugs and tobacco. I think something needs to be done when it comes to young people and them being exposed to this all the time. I came up with this topic because it scares me and I care about doing something to prevent that young adults get drawn into the big use of tobacco that we see today. I originally wanted to do something related to the environment, such as the landfill because that really upsets me. I got very disappointed when I realized I wasn't allowed to go in and take pictures there so I had to think of something else. That's when I came up with this topic, because it is something that I care about. In Sweden, many young people smoke and I think something needs to be done about it. This picture is of my friends who both smoke and I had them sit down leaning back on the brick wall. I had him place his hand on his knee so that he would hold the cigarette still which made it easier for me to focus on it. I got the result I wanted, with the cigarette as the subject and the young adults in the background. I chose black and white because I think tobacco represents a dark side and naturally I wanted a dark picture for it.  I am pleased with my result.

For this project I chose to do city streets because i really enjoy taking pictures of streets with a long exposure and get the light from the cars and all. At first it was a little hard to get the city in the background in focus but I changed my ISO and my aperture and could figure it out eventually. I think it turned out good but I want to explore more places and go out when there are more cars to get more different lines of lighting.
For the second night picture I chose to take a picture of the Bacbcock Theatre sign which I think is the coolest sign in Billings. I like it because it looks really old-fashioned and that is also the reason why I chose to put it in black and white even though the colors are really nice in it. I also chose to have a silhouette in it to create a more exciting picture. I think it turned out good but I don't know if the black and white choice was the best, but I really wanted that feeling of old-fashioned so I am happy about it. Overall I think my light pictures were good but there is definitely room for improvement and I want to play with different shutter speeds and learn more about it.

For my portrait I chose to use Mimmi as my subject. Many people ask me what she's like beause they think she appear shy and quite. She also dresses very casual and discrete. Becasue of this I decided that she was going to paint her nails in colors she liked and to me those colors represent the humourous, kind, caring, generous and happy person that it seems like many people have a hard time seeing before they get to know her. I really enjoy taking portraits and this one was obviously staged. I didn't use a tripod. We were outside and I hung a white sheet behind her. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon so the sun was sitting pretty low which gave us a really nice lighting. I overexposed a little bit to get her eyes to pop more. A lot of the pictures were great,. I chose this one because she look very interesting and serious at the same time and the things she's doinf with her hands also seemed to come natural to her and I wanted it to appear natural even though it was staged. I really enjoyed taking pictures of this VERY pretty friend of mine and I'll probably do it again.

Project 4 - Action!

Action pictures are very interesting to me and I like shooting sports, especially soccer. To mix it up I chose to take pictures at the rodeo this time as well, which was new to me and actually pretty hard.
